Lotus Flower Sanctuary

The lotus holds great symbolic weight in Buddhist tradition and is considered sacred owing to its curious growth process.

The lotus has a life cycle unlike any other plant. With its roots latched in mud, it submerges every night into river water and miraculously re-blooms the next morning, sparklingly clean. With its daily process of life, death, and re-emergence, the lotus is an apt symbol of rebirth and spiritual enlightenment.

Our Lotus Flower Sanctuary is filled with illuminated-four-metre tall lotus flowers. One of the Festival’s most Instagrammable installations, this sanctuary of sky-high lotus flowers provides a calming meditation space for those seeking peace and time to reflect, while guided Ch’an meditation classes and walking meditation classes will be offered almost hourly throughout the festivities.

“Let the mind be a lotus that emerges dry from the water;

Let your nature be the sun and moon that course freely in the sky”
